In View Art Exhibit at The Art Center Highland Park
I was so surprised and honored on January 10, 2014 to receive 2nd place for my encaustic painting, Opera Class, at this year's annual faculty and member exhibit, "In View", at The Art Center in Highland Park, Illinois. What a great exhibit with so much talent! The exhibit runs until February 1. TAC has been such a special and supportive community to me. They will never know how much I truly appreciate the wonderful team that runs this most welcoming gem of a gallery in Highland Park, IL! It is such a gift to everyone to have a place like this in a community. If you haven't been, I encourage you to check out their exhibits and classes. Here are pictures from the recent opening.

Update: Here Now Installation
I blogged this piece back in June. My mom and dad (ok, mostly my mom) chose this as their 45th Anniversary gift from me. My mom got it framed and installed it between the entry and the kitchen (see pics below). I'm really pleased with the pics they sent! You can see the piece pre-framed here: http://artforcoffeessake.blogspot.com/2013/06/blog-post.html

New Tribal II, Encaustic on Wood, 20 1/4 x 14 1/4 inches (framed)
It's hard to capture the colors, depth and texture of darker pieces, so here are a few angles for better perspective.

In View Member and Faculty Show at The Art Center Highland Park
I'm so happy to once again be a part of this wonderful show of member and faculty work at The Art Center, Highland Park, IL. My piece, Follow Your Leader, from the previous post is currently on display. The show is really diverse and I enjoy seeing that when I walk into a gallery!
It's really hard to lose the glare on this super shiny piece when taking a photo of it!

Follow Your Leader, Encaustic on Wood, Approx 24x36x2 inches
This was a happy accident...it's one of my larger pieces and I worked on it for ages...wasn't working at all...wanted to throw it out! Suddenly, things took a positive turn and I arrived here...

Another Exhibit!
I'm so excited to be the artist featured for the month of September 2011 at the Starbucks in Glencoe, IL. It's SUCH a nice starbucks with a comfy couch and a fireplace! The wall we used to hang the art can't have nails in it so they have this wire cable system to hang the pieces. It was very tricky to get the pieces up and the configuration could be better but we did the best we could! As usual, my camera doesn't capture it that well, but you get the idea. Thank you Jay for being such an awesome help!

The wall...only one piece didn't make it!
Wish you could see the lighting in person...far better than what camera shows
Here they are in garage before I took them to be hung. The one in the upper right hand corner didn't make it on the wall
Better lighting here to see the 3 smaller pieces
Come by to check it out!
