Trust The Process, Acrylic on Canvas, Approx 24x36 inches
Since it's too cold in the garage to paint in encaustic, I have resorted to playing with acrylic. Acrylic doesn't move and "do" what wax does, but I pushed myself to see what could happen. Here's the result...

January 7, 2011: Opening Reception for "In View" at The Art Center, Highland Park, IL
What an awesome experience it was to walk into the The Art Center and see my piece, "Kind of A Surprise" on it's own wall in the foyer at the entrance to the main gallery. The cherry on top was winning 3rd place in the Encaustic category! I was so touched to have my great friends share in this experience with me on the night we were celebrating my birthday as well. Beautiful night!

I drove 25 miles into the city to see my piece, "Lied", in the Chicago Art Open, only to find that the exhibit wasn't open on Tuesday! By sheer luck, 2 building employees strolled by and I saw they had keys to the gallery. I asked them to open it up just so I could take a picture of my piece! They were so sweet and I took just a few pictures in the 2 minutes I had! Besides the sheer luck of running into the guys with the keys that let me into the gallery to share a moment with my work, I felt so very fortunate to display my work in a room full of amazing art by such diverse artists. What a great moment.

My First Exhibit!

It was thrill to show my work at my first juried group exhibition ("12x12")at The Art Center (TAC) in Highland Park, IL. Opening show was Nov 20, 2009 and will run until Jan 4 (my bday), 2010. Please stop by and check it out if you are in the area. Here's my only decent pic of me with my art. My pieces in this display are the orange in black frame (Sunrise), the center piece (Hands), and the yellow piece (Lied) (the 3 pieces form a diagonal line). You can view the pieces in more detail on this blog.
The TAC is a fantastic place with great energy and an incredibly warm and friendly staff. They also offer great classes. Check them out here: http://www.theartcenterhp.org/
